DR. BREE MCDANIEL

Picture

Hi, I'm Dr. Bree McDaniel, Psy.D. (she/her)
I'm the founder and CEO of Integrative Consulting & Psych Services (ICPS), a licensed clinical psychologist, organizational consultant, and writer. I identify as a Black Queer Woman. I started this practice with one central intention: to help people move toward their most liberated, authentic, and empowered selves.

"If you have come here to help me you are wasting your time, but if you have come
because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.
-- Dr. Lilla Watson

OR

"Rarely , if ever are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.
--bell hooks

This quote has always resonated with me. My work is grounded in the belief that healing and transformation happen in relationship, especially when we can show up with honesty, curiosity, presence, and shared humanity. I created this space to specifically center Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color and Queer and Trans People of Color because there are still too few places where we are deeply seen, supported, and affirmed, not only in our pain, but in our joy, rest, and brilliance.

Whether I'm engaging in individual work or consulting with an organization, I bring a relational, depth-oriented approach that honors lived experience, invites curiosity, and makes room for the fullness of who we are.

My Path and Training
I earned both my Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in San Francisco, which is accredited by the American Psychological Association. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Human Services from DePaul University in Chicago.

My commitment to lifelong learning and critical reflection also led me to complete the One Year Program: Psychoanalysis and the Sociopolitical World at the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Currently, I'm continuing my post-doctoral training as a psychoanalytic candidate at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy.

Organizational Consulting

In my consulting work, I have the joy of collaborating with people-driven startups and mental health organizations to support meaningful change. I offer organizational consulting and leadership coaching, grounded in psychodynamic thinking, systems theory, and sustainability, to cultivate healthier, more connected workplace cultures.

Clinical, Academic, and Leadership Experience
Throughout my career, I've worked in a wide range of settings, from university counseling centers, consultancy firms, human rights organizations, and inpatient units to community mental health clinics, schools, and private practice.

I've also served as an assistant professor and as the director of a community mental health center and college counseling center, where I trained the next generation of therapists. Most recently, I provided technical assistance, consultation, and program development for mental health initiatives at Stanford University.

Grounded in Care
Outside of work, I center practices that nourish my spirit, inspire me, and keep me grounded: creative expression, travel, listening to music, trying new restaurants, yoga, meditation, my own therapy, reading, communing with nature, and spending quality time with my loved ones and my community. I believe that rest, pleasure, and joy are not luxuries, they're vital parts of our healing and wholeness.
